City officials on Monday night consummated a labor agreement nearly three years in the making with city police officers, even as a financial crunch threatens to make negotiations over a new contract treacherous.
A late October arbitration ruling over a firefighters contract paved a path toward quick resolution of a contract with police officers from 2006 through December. Like Rockford firefighters, city police officers had worked under an expired contract since Jan. 1, 2006.
